member of the New Jersey Spoken Word
Scene. Most notably, he was the Havana Bay
Slam Champion, the first ever Cypher
Movement Slam Champion, and the reigning
champion of the Jersey City vs. Merrimount
University Slam. He has also hosted several
open-mics including Poetic Vices in North
Bergen, the Legendary Waterbug in Jersey
City and innumerable others throughout New
Jersey. He has toured NJ campuses including
William Patterson, Montclair State, and N.J.I.T.
in Newark. In addition to spoken word poetry
BrokenEnglish is also an accomplished stage
actor with the Grace Theater Workshop. More
recently he has become a cast member of the
SlamChops performance poetry troupe out of
the Bowery Poetry Club and has been teaching
Spoken Word/Performance in both New York
and New Jersey school systems.
